KARIOBANGI Legends Youth received fierce competition despite winning a 1-0 goal against Bangu Stars in a friendly match played at Kariobangi Primary, Nairobi on Sunday, September 7, 2025. It was the second match for Kariobangi Legends Youth as they prepare to participate in the FKF Division One league next season. Kariobangi led by head coach Jeremiah Khayo is participating in the matches to test the abilities of new players.
The match started well, Bangu Stars coached by Justo Lilech was fighting for early goals. Bangu Stars players seemed to push their hosts hard. However, the Kariobangi youth worked hard and managed to score the goal within the first half through the efforts of Larry Luseno. “My players are not used to each other well and we have a difficult period in friendly matches,” said the Kariobangi coach. He added that he is confident that they will gradually understand each other as we continue to participate in training and friendly matches.
“Kariobangi has good and talented players who are putting in good effort but they are not used to each other,” said the Bangu Stars coach. He added that they are planning to play in the return match with their host. Kariobangi recorded their second win a week after registering a 5-0 win over Momentum FC at the same stadium.
Kariobangi Legends Youth was promoted to participate in the FKF Division One league next season, after beating Police Youth 3-0 in an exciting FKF Division Two Eastern Zone League playoffs final played at Nanyuki Stadium, Nanyuki, on Saturday, August 2, 2025. In semis, Kariobangi Legends Youth registered 3-1 win over Kahawa United and secured a ticket for final match. Police Youth advanced to the final after defeating Gituru FC 2-1. In the preliminary matches, Kariobangi beat Segera FC 1-0, Police Youth demolished Githunguri Seniors 3-1, while Gituru FC got an 8-7 win over Kahawa United on penalties after a goalless draw.
